BackBay Seafood Seasoning

Ingredients: Sea Salt, Celery Seed, Chili, Nutmeg, Clove, Allspice, Mustard, Black Pepper, Thyme, Bay Leaves

This seasoning is a delicious blend which can be sprinkled on all seafood. It also adds great flavour when added to chips, fried chicken, hamburgers, sandwiches, casseroles, soups, pizza, dips and cheeses, and even Bloody Marys.  It’s is also used as a prawn and crab boil or spice mixture that is used to flavour the water in which crabs or other shellfish are boiled.

TIP:  get in touch with your inner bogan and cook a “low-country” boil this summer.  Get a huge stock pot of water bring to a boil, add a ½ cup of white vinegar, 3 tablespoons of Bay Seafood Seasoning, add whole small potatoes, add sliced chorizo or spicy sausage, cook until potatoes just about tender, add corn on the cob (broken in half), add prawns, crayfish, crab, any other shellfish you can get and boil until seafood ready.  Cover a picnic table with vinyl tablecloth or garbage bags (yep).  Strain “boil”, let cool for a few minutes and pour onto table and sprinkle with Bay Seafood Seasoning.  Grab a few buckets for the shells and some paper towels and dig it.
